Movie Review: The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.
Catching Fire explains the story of Panem much better. A world in ruin controlled by a corrupt society where the rich get richer and the poor suffer therefore. You get a deep sense of the suffering and injustice that is going on. The story line of Catching Fire is diverse and deep, filled with unexpected turns and thought-provoking moments. The movie creates a connection between Katniss and the audience that pulls you deeper into the story line.
Visual effects are stunning and the audio connects you with the movie creating those memorable moments that push you to the edge of your seat. The effects really brings the world to life.
When you are going to watch Catching Fire, be prepared for quite the long watch, as it is 2 hours and 26 minutes long. Even though this might seem like an eternity, it is understandable as there is so much ground to cover. However, at times it did feel like certain scenes were a bit over exaggerated and drawn out too long.

Overall, I give this movie a rating of 8/10. It is definitely worthwhile and is an excellent addition to the Hunger Games franchise. This movie contains scenes of violence and is rated PG-13.
