Movie Review – Gravity
Gravity, directed by Oscar nominee Alfonso Cuaron, stars Oscar winners Sandra Bullock and George Clooney in a heart-pounding thriller that pulls you into the infinite and unforgiving realm of deep space. Bullock plays Dr. Ryan Stone, a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (Clooney). But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone.
The movie captured me in the situation that Dr. Stone found herself. The fear of being alone in dead space was perfectly acted out by Sandra Bullock. The realistic decisions she makes and the way she reacts in situations perfectly illustrate what a person would really do in that situation.
The characters almost immediately captures the audience and from the minute things start going wrong you find yourself at the edge of your seat. The question of what would happen next in this series of terrible events did not really cross my mind as I was too caught in the present situation.
The movie has fantastic visuals and the effects are simply astounding. As for music and sound effects I do not think that it could have been more perfect.
The only negative thing is that I found myself quite tensed in the movie, but what else can be expected, it is a heart pounding storyline with the possibility of certain death at any given moment.
